St. Peter's Basilica

From 136 meters top of the "cupolone" ("the large" cupola), one dominates Rome. The City of the Vatican, independent State since 1929, is a city in the city, a capital which turns around this enormous cathedral, Saint Peter. The largest church in the world was built between 1506 and 1626 on the place of the martyrdom of Saint Peter. Million pilgrims and tourists come each year under the cupola from Michel-Angel, between the colonnade of Bernin.
