The "Vittoriano" is an enormous monument
which dominates the Piazza Venezia, owes its name to the king in honor of
whom it was built : Victor Emmanuel II, first king of Italy.
Realized
by Giuseppe Sacconi at the beginning of the XXth century, it is
among the monuments most discussed of the city, appreciated by
tourists, scorned by major part of Roman criticism because of its
forms, of the choice of the marbles, and also its dimensions.
